The ones who show up.

Palmetto Landscape is a residential landscaping and hardscape company in Charleston. Nikita Parijenko started it at eighteen and runs it the same way now: turn up on the day we said, finish the whole job, answer the phone before the day is out.

Ask anyone here what went wrong with their last landscaper and you get one of two answers. He stopped showing up. He would not give a straight price. We built the company around those two, and everything below is how that works in practice.

Lawn care

Mowing on a schedule you can set your watch by, with every bed edged and the clippings cleared before we leave. Most Charleston lawns want weekly through the growing season and every two weeks once it slows down.

CleanupsTwo years, on a street that had moved on.

How we price it

You get the number before the work starts, not after it.

Ask a landscaper in this city what something costs and you will usually get a site visit you did not ask for, then silence. The complaint people make here is not that the work is expensive. It is that nobody will tell them anything. Below is what decides your number, service by service, before you pick up the phone.

Lawn care Square footage and frequency Measured off the property rather than guessed from the size of the house. Weekly costs less per visit than every two weeks, because shorter grass is faster work.
Fencing Run, material and gates Most of the labour is in the post holes, so spacing moves the figure more than people expect. Tearing out an old fence is quoted alongside the new one.
Ground covers Area, depth, and what is already there Cleaning out old mulch and re-cutting the bed edges are quoted on their own lines, so you can drop either one and watch the number move.
Sod What has to come out first Two yards the same size can be double each other. The grass is the cheap part of a sod job and the ground under it is not.
Artificial turf The base, not the blade Excavation, crushed stone and drainage are most of the cost and all of the reason the surface is still flat in five years.
Cleanups Time since the last one, volume out Those are the two things a couple of photos answer in about ten seconds, which is why we ask for photos instead of booking a visit to look at leaves.

Hardscaping, driveways, patios, retaining walls, irrigation and concrete are priced per job. Whatever the work, you get the figure before anyone starts, and it does not move unless you change what you asked for.

Describe the property, or send two photos of it. You get the figure the same day, before anyone drives out to look at it.

You get a date

We tell you the day before you commit to anything, so you are not holding a price with no schedule attached to it.

Step 03

We finish it

Beds edged, clippings cleared, driveway blown off, gate shut. The yard should look finished, not worked on.

What is this going to cost me?

Ask and you get a figure the same day. What we will not do is dodge the question, which is the complaint people in Charleston make about this trade more than any other. Size and the state of the property drive most of it, and we will tell you which of those two is driving yours.

How long does the work take?

A weekly cut is one visit. Mulch and cleanups are usually a single day. Sod and turf depend on how much ground has to come out first, and fencing depends on the run and the number of gates. You get the number of days with the price, before you say yes.

Who turns up at my house?

What kind of mess do you leave?

None that you have to deal with. Clippings cleared, beds edged, driveway and walk blown off, debris hauled away, gate shut behind us. If a neighbour cannot tell we were there apart from the yard looking better, we did it right.

You call the number at the top of this page and you reach the owner the same day. Nothing goes through a ticket queue, and nothing waits for Monday.
